Additional Resources
This is where I'll be adding any resources in addition to the ones that constitute my therapy approach. You can think of that section as more for learning techniques and this section as more a "ready use resources" section. To begin with I'm going to be putting in leveled vocabulary resources, including core vocabulary, intermediate vocabulary, and advanced vocabulary. I'm putting some core vocabulary songs I made up, as well as lots of lists, but expect more in the future!
Current Resources
These are the most critical words that I recommend teaching before any other, compiled from multiple word frequency use lists and clinical experience. I divide them up into 3 stages of 40 words each, for a total of 120 words.
The best way to get many learners to incorporate new words and phrases into their vocabulary is through music! I adapted several common children's tunes to teach core vocabulary phrases and this is the result!
Object cards are a lot like picture communication cards, but instead of pictures they have real objects (or pieces of objects) attached to the card. They are a good tool for those with reduced vision or global aphasia. They can be used for communication and/or to convey schedules.
This is where I share tips I've given caregivers and other therapists on how to introduce AAC because there are so many ways to do it wrong, but doing it right is actually pretty straightforward once you see it.
Leveled Vocabulary
COMING SOON! This is kind of my master work. An alphabetized list of lots and LOTS of words associated with different parts of speech and different categories. When I get all the words up here there will literally be thousands! I break each list down into core, basic, intermediate, and advanced vocabulary, so there's something for every learner.
